Argument placement in Icelandic

This paper gives an overview of the Icelandic data in Nordic Word Order Database (NWD; Lundquist et al. 2019). The were collected from 30 native speakers Icelandic, and experimental task elicited argument placement (subject shift, object long particle shift). results confirm that subject shift definite subjects pronouns is produced categorically as pronominal shift. With regard to non-pronominal objects relative sentence adverbials particles, there is, on other hand, variability. Rather surprisingly, suggest (initial or postverbal) influences respect ordering distinction between directional metaphorical particles relevant. patterns are partly different what we find comparable North Germanic languages (also available NWD).
